As we bring this weekend to a close, weekenders coming home, restng from parties, get togethers and not only shooting off fireworks but Im sure some of you were watching sports too. July fourth marks yet another holiday we celebrate with friends and family, laughing, playing and remembering the good ole times. This 4th was a very different one for me. After doing a harsh time in the Retrograde last month I am trying to be more grateful for the people and moments in my life. I try to stay updated with news information as much as possible but sometimes I have to take a break. Seeing so much pain, hurt and selfishness on the news brings this little empath into depression. This Friday while getting ready for fireworks and dinner, my boyfriend tells me about this article he read earlier about a horrible bullying attack in Little Five Points. (Here is an article, be careful its intense.) A transgender person was brutally attacked for being in the area, horrifyingly enough it was recorded. As someone who was bullied at a young age I am completely against it and stand up for those who do not have a voice. My boyfriend stood there as I walked angrily around my apartment. I couldn't believe that they not only beat this person up in an area where being different and free is the first staple, but I just couldn't believe that people would video this to post on social media rather than help or get help. Come on people! So what if a guy wants to dress in "girl" clothes. Is it not a fashion statement for women to dress in mens clothing? Aren't we being a bit hypocritical here?
I finally calmed down I realized how much I wanted to release love and happiness into the world and not the same negativity as these people. The world needs love and so does everyone involved in that act. I look around and see so much hate, we are raising our kids in this type of atmosphere. Where you teach to love each other but turn around and show them that there are "exceptions" according to you. No, no. We are all the same...human beings. Then I realized what I wanted to celebrate for Independence Day...I.N.D.E.P.E.N.D.E.C.E! How can we say that we are free if more than half of us can't get married to the person we love just because they are the same sex or a man who wants to be a woman , etc. Let people be to discover who they are inside. WE all have insecurities and WE all find ways to gain confidence within ourselves. Please remember that helping is much better than hurting. One person can make a difference in someone else's world even if its as simple as a hello and an open door.
On to the fun stuff! There were fireworks, friends, laughs, lightsabers and lots of silliness to boot. I am so grateful for the life that I have made for myself and I look forward to my future, positively. May you all have a wonderful rest of your weekend and try to make a person smile this week. Make it a goal to yourself to be kind to a stranger, or even a loved one. You will find that you will feel much better about yourself and your day. :-) Hugs guys :-)
