Welcome to a brand new week, just under two weeks left of retrograde and into Leo season we go. As of now the theme of our retrograde should be front and center. Ready for us to face these situations and realize the truth of what we are dealing with. One of the many themes that is showing up for me is personal will, liberation, having hope, and believe in myself. How about you? Needless to say this retrograde has given us her usual does of lessons but will prove to us once and for all that we are not lost. We all have a passion, purpose and dream and by the end of this cycle we will all be propelled into our own directions.
What Happens when you mess with personal will?
As a practicing Witch it is not uncommon to have someone ask for help with a spell, reading or healing. One of my current situations I am healing this retrograde is the attack on my personal will. It has left me angered, emotional, insecure to name a few low vibrational energies. Not far on the spectrum is involving personal will into our magic. When we perform magic for others there is a fine line in helping and interrupting. Messing with someone's personal will in witchcraft is dangerous, returning, and often involves a lesson we ourselves need to learn.
Personal will is part of our life's journey, it is curiosity, love, vengeance, regret and the unknown drive of finding our happiness. It is all the mistakes that help or force us to grow, it is our scary decisions we make even when others tell us differently and it is the conscience we have on our sides. It is the part of us that rebels or conforms to dictations and authoritative structures. Have you ever been told what to do and immediately felt as if you were being forced to do or say something you didn't believe in? Have you ever been in a position at work where to keep your job you had to act in a way that made you uncomfortable? This is your personal will practically screaming at you. "Hey...you....what are we doing this for?"
When working magic and spell casting one of the biggest and most common first used topic, love. I can't tell you how many times in the beginning I would scour books and spells online to find the perfect love spell. And without fail every time I worked a love spell I had a specific person in mind. I wasn't using magic to attract love I was practically creating a love potion, a.k.a fake love. Each time I would watch as infatuation turned to lust, the lust turn to obsession and finally by the end of the run it felt forced. At first I played the victim card, why me and I'm cursed. But the truth was I was messing with someone's free will and personal journey. I watched many a spells blow up in my face by this process. Messing with someone's will is taking control over their life, mind and direction. It is placing a selfish bind on them forcing them to do your biding.
What about magic or healing in someone's name?
Working magic for someone is something I recommend for more advanced Witches. It can be hard to not involve personal thoughts, energies or feelings into the universe and cloud the outcome. It is always good to remember that somethings move beyond our understanding and no matter how hard we work, the outcome will stay the same. With that said there is such a thing as distance healing and magic work. You wouldn't want someone messing with your life without permission so don't create magic for someone thinking you know what's best for them. But before preforming anything in the name of another always ask if it is okay or include a statement as this before working your magic:
I ______________ , ask the Guides/Gods/Goddesses/Universe/etc. to provide me with aide. I ask to offer healing/guidance/inspiration/etc to _____________. May it be in their most positive interest and may it not interfere with their journey or will. I ask for magic to work through me to perform in their highest interest.
