I had a wonderful weekend. My friend Madison, from Awakened Moon, and I took a couple of trips together. Friday we went to walk through Atlanta Botanical Gardens for their Chihuly exhibit. Dale Chihuly, has been one of my favorite artists since college. I've seen some of his works before but nothing compared to being able to walk around the gardens and be amongst massive glass sculptures. It was as if I was walking around in a dream.
One of my favorite parts was when we got to the Earth Goddess landscape sculpture. There were pieces scattered throughout the pond and a long boat filled with different glass shapes all lit up. Rainbows scattered around the water and the pond was surrounded by giant honey suckles. it was glorious.
On Saturday we drove up to Ellijay, GA were they were having an apple festival. I tried apple cider doughnuts, bought homemade candles and snagged a beautiful handmade basket. It was exciting to walk around and see different booths. There were all sorts of apple based foods and drinks. I was in heaven. On the way home we stopped at an orchard market and picked up local fruits and veggies. We also picked out a couple of pumpkins to carve. This weekend was filled with cinnamon, apple cider, pumpkins, and amazing weather. I'm ready for my next fall adventure!
I am so so so excited. This weekend was the first taste of fall. Friday morning I woke up to a chilly surprise in the weather. The weather trickled over into the weekend and you could feel the change on the winds. I normally start celebrating a season once one of two things happen. I feel the weather/energy of the season and I wait until the previous season/holiday passes. Much to my happiness this weekend was cool, clear and you could see the start of the leaves changing color.
I always get energized starting in October. I love walking outside with my fuzzy boots, scarf, warm apple cider or fall flavored coffee in my hand. I listen to my music and watch as the world spins on around me in a time-lapse sort of mode. Fall makes me feel free and it feels as if the season matches my personality.
Autumn is a time of adventure, smells, and fire pits. Fall is the time to go out explore and then snuggle up inside. I love going for a hike to see the colors of the trees and then coming back to a sweater and apple cider. I have so many awesome things coming up starting this month. I barely can contain them all. just this weekend I am going to the botanical gardens to see Chihuly pieces Friday night and an Apple festival the next day. I can't wait to snag a bunch of Apples, Apple products and yes the receptive theme...APPLE CIDER! Not only do I have big adventures this weekend the weekend after that I get to see one of my favorite authors read from her new book, (and meet her!).
This is only October, I have two full months of colors, smells, sights, weather, outfits, flavors and fun. I can't wait to blog about them all1! hahaha
