The snow's coming in and I'm loving every second. This being my first actual winter with snow and all. I am sipping my tea and fighting a cold while looking out over the fireplace on to the snowy ground. Highly recommend roses and ginger based teas. So warming and fragrant, plus their properties naturally detox you as well as give your immune system a boost. Not to mention you can feel super fancy sipping rose teas in an elegant nightgown. Bonus point if it's vintage.
I wanted to talk about two very important things in this blog; our feelings of guilt when we feel and feeling happy for the small stuff. These two things have been bouncing back and forth in my brain the past few days, and mostly when I try to sleep. Why is it that we enjoy feeling but only when it's happy? I know, I know. No one enjoys feeling upset or angry. But we aren't supposed to feel guilty or stress ourselves out when we do feel those feelings. We are spiritual beings having a human experience so how can we expect to repress an entire range of the emotional spectrum.
When we either ignore or eradicate these feelings and emotions we often later on explode with an outpouring and verbal diarrhea. And worse is that we instantly feel better only to follow it by the guilt of how and why we felt that way. Let me just say this, there are no bad or wrong feelings. It is the actions of those feelings that puts us into troubling situations. Unfortunately in this day and age we are facing a loss of connection and some of us don't have an outlet to let out these feelings. So next time someone needs to talk, just think of how import that listening ear could mean.
Often we get more upset at the things in which we can't control more than the thing itself. Forgive yourself for being upset and try to learn from the situation. Remember feelings and emotions are an amazing thing to have. It is a freedom to express the things which go on inside. For some of us it can be a little harder to communicate but it is never something to be angry or ashamed about. Feel those feelings and embrace the emotions!
Since Sunday it has been snowing here, which is the most snow I have ever seen in my life. Walking up this morning, even feeling icky, I rushed to the window to see how much snow we got. Then on the way to the post office my favorite Fleetwood Mac song came on while driving through the snowy streets. I squeaked out loud and sang at the top of my lungs. It was at this moment I knew that I saw my happiness in that small moment on the road. I noticed it more and more throughout the day and decided to offer it to you. The choice to see the small moments of happiness.
What are some things that make you jump for joy or dance with delight? What moments can you find right now that brought you happiness in your day? Really think and look deep. What are some of the things that you did for yourself or had happen to you that gave you exuberant butterflies?
