Becoming aware of your surroundings and the emotional state that you're in is the first major step to motivation. First, sit or step back and breath. Take a moment to check in with your self and what's going on around you. What is in your surroundings that can help or hurt your motivation? Next, check in with your emotions. Are you feeling guilty, insecure, sad, etc.? Addressing how you feel is how you can move on and motivate yourself. If you feel stressed maybe you need to take a moment and meditate. If you feel tired maybe it is time to go for a walk or sit quietly for a moment. (It can also mean you need to sleep or take a nap) Surrounding can also include people. Are you surrounded by negativity? Time to call in the troops a.k.a your suport network. Friends can be the biggest help in helping you to become aware and also to motivate you.
Accept your current state, how you feel, what you think and what you are going to do. Don't fight with yourself, don't talk yourself out of the negative emotions. Emotions are powerful and when you work through them you will gain a sense of accomplishment, refreshment and strength. It will give you a motivation boost that you can do anything you put your mind to. This also implys to accepting others and how they are. Practice non judgement and acceptance withing your daily life.
Redirect your focus with questions. Is this the Truth? Is This Helpful? Is this Inspiring? Is it Necessary? Is it Kind? Focusing on actions versus emotions makes things easier. When you engage yourself in what you are doing, thinking and feeling you start to become accountable. This is one of the major steps in self acceptance, forgiveness and growth.
Seeing: If you are like many of us who stare down the computer or phone on a daily basis, time to cut back on time spent looking at our screens. Take some time to close your eyes for just a few moments or focus on nature, just to let yourself reset a few times a day.
Sound: unplug the headphones for a minute, sit in the car with no music on for one day a week coming home. Once in a while try and substitute your music with some ambient sounds.
Taste: Drink a glass of warm water in the morning to clean your palate and help your digestive system. Use a tounge cleaner to help with bacteria and help keep your mouth healthy. Slow down when eating and take moments to chew and enjoy your food.
Touch: Wear lose clothing more often and enjoy a nice bath once or twice a week. Before you go to sleep rub a nice moisturizer on your skin to help feel luxurious and smooth.
Smell: Scents like Lemon, Orange, Eucalyptus, and lavender oil, help calm, refresh and clear the sinuses. Tea Tree Oil is one of my favorite quick pick me ups. Rub a small amount in your palms and rub the together, breath in deep.
My Favorite Detox go to... Yoga and Meditation
Yoga! I can't express enough how much I love yoga, Just being in my space, stretching out tension and practicing my breathing, refreshes me to start a whole new adventure. Yoga plus a green smoothie and I'm back on my game and ready to go.
I am working on something big...well not in size but it's still pretty amazing. I'm creating a book/workbook that will help you find the amazing hero within yourself. It's still in the beginning phases but I'm so filled with excitement that I had to spill the beans a bit. There will be affirmations, quizes, journal entries and more. I'll post updates along the way. Got my sketch book, coffee, pen and pumpkin candle. I'm ready to begin this journey and can't wait to share in this adventure with you.
My wall of inspiration, notes, ideas and to do lists. Neon color poster board is making me smile.
The Universe will always be at your side, it will always have your back.
Spirituality is the process of learning who you are and who you want to be. Spirituality connects you to the universe and others. Creating a link, bond and connection. Spirituality is a very personal experience that you can share with others if you choose. When you create a spiritual practice/routine you gain purpose, meaning and direction. It can help in reaching conclusions, embracing the idea of moving forward and searching in the direction of your life. Spirituality is the process, religion is a hand in hand method that can go along with it. Keep an open mind when going through this process and remember to go easy on your self. Spirituality is all about growth and lessons waiting to be learned. Accept the beliefes of others, question view points, learn new methods and come up with a practice that is truly on your own.

Creating a Sacred Space
Having a space that is all your own is something that is very important to any spiritual development. Now this doesn't have to be a large area, it can be inside or outside. What is important is how this area feels and looks to you. Some things you can include, a table or surface, (can be called an Altar, Shrine, or Prayer Table) Pictures or items of inspiration and motivation. Candles, art, and words of affirmations. I have a thing for Dragons and Venitian Masks. Dragons represent strength, dreams, wishes, conquering demons, power and more. My masks bring a sense of whimsy and reminds me to believe in my dreams and the magic that is in my life. On my Altar not only do I have dragons, I have pictures of the people I love, a statue of Athena, Fairy houses, Sage, and plants. All things that reprsent me and what I love. Reminding me everyday of how far I've come, affirmation of my jouney in life and that I am surrounded by love. If I am working on a particular problem I pin up things that help me through it. No matter what your regligious practice having a sacred space will be an area that you can calm, center and ground yourself, anytime you need. Having a Spiritual and/or Religious practice can help your self confidece, motivation, loneliness, depression, and find answers to your problems.
There are so many reasons to love Fall, the weather, the trees, the colors, the smells, baking and all the transformations. The fall is the transition between the summer and winter, the mid point. It marks the time of year to prepare for winter and the burrowing we usually do during that time. In other words, a time were we can clean out what we don't need, get some rest, reflect within and we emerge feeling refreshed and anew. A few years back I started calling this time of year Fall Haul. When I clean out and organize my closet, as well as areas in my life. Organizing files, cleaning the house, taking walks, are all part of it. I always get super motivated in fall, it gives me that feeling of just get up and go. Feeling super motivated and super ready to begin a new adventure. Every year at the start of fall I go out and get the first pumpkin and cinnamon smelling candles and oils, I start to bake and I want my whole house to smell like it is a cottage in the woods. I just want to wrap up in a blanket, with a book and the fireplace going, and lots of tea.
Yesterday while browsing in Best Buy I lingered towards the health and exercise section. I began looking at the heath monitors and saw the Fit Bit. I have heard the wonders about this little band. A good friend of mine raves about it, reviews are pretty incredible. I love gadgets and this is a health gadget, yes! I have wanted one of these for so long but kept procrastanating and giving the usual excuses of budget. Yesterday I couldn't wait to get home and try it out. I was already opening my package before the door was opened. With the Fit Bit I can set my step goals, weight goals and more. I can enter my food, treats, snacks and keep count of calories with ease. It even has a sleep mode to montitor how well your sleep pattern is doing. So cool! I love how it integrates between the laptop and cell phone. I was bouncing around all over the place, running to my phone, syncing then looking at my stats. There is so much this little buddy does that makes staying active fun and interesting. I noticed I have been taking extra steps becuase my score goes higher. Fit Bit even has a section where you can add friends and set up challanges with each other. Motivation station right there. What better way to stay active, then having an accountability partner? On my way to a more active me! :-)
