One of my favorite ways to ground, balance and get in time with myself is hiking. I have often found comfort and peace on the trails marked and unmarked. A favorite place of mine is only a few miles outside the heart of Atlanta and is good for all levels.
This park has two sides of the Chattahoochee river. On one side there are paved running trails and the other more rugged and quite. Lots of trees and animals. The trail also has large rock structures and formations that Cherokee Indians used as homes or ritual areas.
Every time I go to the park I see something new and I have yet to get bored with the trails. There are even some trails where you do some rock climbing. Hiking also helps with anxiety, insecurities and being in the moment. Not to mention helps with focus and determination. I'm not a big fan of conventional gym workouts so getting my heart pumping and enjoying the outdoors is a bonus for me.
I highly recommend getting out and going hiking when you can. You'll feel so refreshed when you're finished. Maybe even dip your feet in the river to cool off from the summer heat. :)
