I truly love the months from October through January. I love as October settles in and the cool air blows, I start to get the sense and feel of Fall. The colors, the smells, the holidays and my all time favorite thing, fuzzy boots. I mean why not be warm and comfortable, right? The beginning of autumn fills me with the energy of starts and starting new projects.
Towards the end of September I not only left a toxic environment I also decided it was time to start planning some of the things I placed on the back burner for far to long. That's what great about fall, it brings us the motivating energy of change, growth and purpose. I took the leap and now I am gaining blessings everyday. Minus this cold I am nursing right now, maybe my body is trying to tell me take a rest. So I think back on this awesome weekend and what lies ahead as The Hobbit plays i the background, (not to mention, tissues, free juice and water right beside me).
Women Empowering Women Event
So Friday marked a momentous occasion for me, it marked the start of a new venture. I was searching for a networking event to collaborate with positive, powerful and professional women. While there were some promising events here and there, nothing really for bringing women closer together. So that's when I knew it was time to put one together myself.
As the event started I was so excited, slightly nervous, but so ready to meet some amazing women from around Atlanta. Little by little people started to join us, and by the end of the night we pushed tables together and a large group of us were laughing and sharing.
I was so happy at the end of the night and for the first time in a while I was up till about 2 in the morning. I met so many amazing and inspiring women in the area. I can't wait for the next event, gotta get planning. Super excited!
I can't wait to meet with these lovely ladies again. It is so nice to be around a group of women wanting to help each other. We had no competition, no bitching, it was just positive and fun moments.
This past Saturday my boyfriend and I were tired of the rain and really wanted to get out the house. As I mentioned above, it has been raining here for almost a month and everyone is getting just a bit stir crazy out here.
We wanted to get out of the house so we both hit the internet to find some fun indoor activities for us to go to. That's when he found it, about 15 minutes away was an Exhibit hosting the inventions of Leonardo DaVinci.
DaVinci is one of my favorite people in history. He was such an amazing creative thinker and imagineer. But what something that I was truly inspired by was his love for peace and understanding. He was a truly a love not a fighter. One of the amazing things I learned was that even though he made some war machine type inventions, he truly didn't want to use them for war. He was often quoted saying how he wished some of the machines didn't make it in to others hands.
One of my favorite things that I learned about him was why he wanted to learn about the human body. One of his best friends passed away young and DaVinci wanted to understand why. That was his reasoning for wanting to dissect the human body. He need up working on his friend and discovered that he had clogged arteries. Because of this he decided to become a vegetarian and take better care of himself. How cool is that?
We had so much fun playing with examples of his inventions, spinning around in a mirror room and learning more facts about an amazing and inspiring man.
