Garden of the Gods
One day under our belt and already I don't want to go home. The sheer beauty of the mountains and people here just make his place so memorable. I feel at home here among the landscape and atmosphere.
Our first night at camp was so much fun. I loved getting our tiny little camper ready for the night. I'm a big fan of tiny homes and the creativity involved. It took only a matter of moments to get everything ready.
The camp is super adorable. We're staying at Yogi Bear Jellystone park. They have such a nice set up, absolutely perfect for first timers and families. They have the cutest little cabins and tons of activities. The staff is super friendly and really helpful.
Yesterday morning started with excitement and breakfast. I could hardly wait to get started. We decided to go to the Garden of the Gods for our first adventure of the trip. This gigantic park is filled with trails of all levels.
When you first get in you're greeted by tall red rocks. We had to circle around the park to find a spot and we ended up by a place called, Balanced Rock. We filled out camel pack, globed on sunscreen and headed out the door.
The trails were so much fun. We got to climb on rocks, see cacti and overlook beautiful scenery. You really put yourself in the present moment. I really had to pay attention to how I felt and where I was.
Even with sunscreen and tons of water, I ended up getting a bit to much heat. We had to head back. When you're out here you really need to pay attention to your body. It's very easy to get heat exhaustion or sun poisoning. Once back in the camper I started to cool down and feel much better.
We drove through the town and took in the sites as we made our journey back to camp. Making it back in time to cook a feast, set up for our slumber party, all before the rain hit. We finished the night with talking about the day and planning for our next adventure.
