Back to the basics of self love
Hello world, I hope you're comfy wherever this blog finds you. I myself am sitting on our new porch chairs, enjoying the breeze and watching life move while I type. It is a phenomenal day in Atlanta, I mean the weather can't be above 72 degrees and the sun is shining. What a great way to spend a Sunday.
I am so grateful for this day!
This past week was an emotional rollercoaster. I found myself submitting to routine and caught up in the waiting game. Waiting for the day to end, waiting to feel motivate, waiting for happiness. I lost handle on what was real.
I was to busy trying to be perfect, thinking happiness was my destination.
Thankfully I was able to catch it and go back to my healthy habits. I felt it was time to get refreshed on my I.N.N information, and I even pulled out some of my favorite motivational books. Time to get back to the me that I know is in there somewhere. The one who I put on the back burner so I can handle my responsibilities.
Being an adult was my excuse for not having fun.
Now I believe that we are handed experiences in life by the universe so that we can achieve our highest potential. I also believe that we are tested accordingly and tested so that we can prove to ourselves how strong we are.
We loose sight of our path, forgetting the journey is more important than the destination.
I wasn't just getting back to loving myself. I was also put in the position of learning about forgiveness and compassion. I have been pressuring myself and others for what was happening in my very own life.
We all have our own ways of dealing with the issues of life. We vent, cry, laugh, talk with friends.
It's okay to talk things out, or get super upset when something happens. The import thing to remember is we must not dwell on these issues. We must build upon them and use them as our armor.
Our past is not the definition of us, it is what molds us, strengthens us and helps us to grow.
Remember as you go about your week, you have made this incredible journey to where you are now. You have survived heartache, loss, starting jobs, leaving jobs, and growing up. We all have come a long way, and we all know we still have a long way to go.
Self care, a much needed practice!
With all that is going on in my life at the movement, getting a reminder about self care was such a blessing. One of the most amazing people I know and a girl I'm proud to call a friend, interviewed me about my favorite self care tips.
This couldn't have come at a more perfect time. The evidence was in the fact that I panicked for a solid 2 days. What was I going to write about? How could I tell people what my self care tips are, when I don't even know them myself? Boy was my ego full of bs.
Once I sat down and thought about it, most of the things that make me feel better, or the ways that I ensure my happiness, where right there in front of me the whole time.
Her blog was at the right time when I actually needed to go back to the basics. I stopped doing the things that made me happy and pushed them to the side saying some pretty lame excuses for not doing them.
