I am one of those people who has struggled with perfectionism and multi tasking since puberty. don't get me wrong being able to multi task isn't always bad. Sometimes it can come in handy. It gets toxic when we try to control every little detail or get horribly upset when things don't go according to plan. This leads us to feeling lost, stuck or unsuccessful.
Another pressure we hold over our heads is the idea of being someone we're not. We are forced to figure out life questions younger and younger. Do you remember in high school when you had to pick a college and decided what you wanted to do for the rest of your life. Did you have any clue what you really wanted at 16-17yrs old? I sure didn't and let me tell you, I am not nearly the same person I was back then. I have grown, learned from my experiences and blossomed into the person I am today. It took a long time to get here and looking back I would have never guessed this life when I was a teenager.
So what we get when we are pressured into decisions, jobs, responsibilities is the loss of our spark. We are groomed to follow the work week only to get to our weekend. We as a society have grown into thinking that we should only have two days to take care of our needs. This has always baffled me, and I am a part of it just as much as the next person. The difference, I am choosing to find better ways to live.
